The Oxford Tropical Network (OTN) Conference will take place from Tuesday 13th March to Friday 16th March 2018 at the Sheraton Saigon Hotel and Towers in the centre of Ho Chi Minh City.

The Conference is an opportunity for colleagues and collaborators from across the entire Oxford Tropical Network, whether they work internationally or in Oxford, to come together to learn more about each other’s research and to develop new ideas and collaborations.

The Conference is open to delegates by invitation only; if you would like to attend and have not received an invitation please contact OTN2018@oucru.org.

THE PROGRAMME

On Tuesday 13th March there will be a welcome event starting at 18:00, venue to be confirmed.

On Wednesday 14th March at 08:30 the conference will begin with an Opening Address by Professor Gavin Screaton, recently appointed Head of the Division of Medical Sciences at the University of Oxford. The scientific programme will include international speakers, presentations, e-posters and workshops, as well as social events. To submit a presentation or e-poster please submit a Presentation/E-poster form.

On Thursday 15th March, the scientific programme will continue. There will also be an opportunity for clinically trained delegates to take part in ward rounds at the Hospital of Tropical Diseases (within which OUCRU HCMC is based). Pre-registration will be required to attend the rounds with details available in due course. There will be a social event in the evening.

On Friday 16th March the scientific programme will continue and again there will be an opportunity for delegates to take part in ward rounds. The conference will officially finish after lunch, however for those interested, there will be an opportunity to visit OUCRU HCMC following the conclusion of the conference. Pre-registration will be required and delegates will be invited to register their interest in this visit nearer to the time.

PRE-CONFERENCE EVENTS:

In addition to the Conference programme, there are two events being planned for before the OTN, both to be hosted at OUCRU in Ho Chi Minh City. For further information, please read the linked information and contact the relevant organisers directly to express your interest:

Event 1:  An Introduction to Health Systems Research (HSR) and Complex Interventions (CI)

This workshop is aimed at those with little or no prior experience in HSR or CI to provide a basic introduction to this field of work.   

Professor Mike English and colleagues, from KEMRI│Wellcome is offering to host this 2-day workshop on Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th March 2018. Participants must cover their own hotel / travel costs. Event 2:  Transmission Dynamics and Modelling Meeting

This meeting aims to bring together those working in modelling from across the Oxford Tropical Network in order to strengthen links between researchers, learn from each other and plan future collaborative work.

Dr Hannah Clapham, Head of Mathematical Modelling at OUCRU is offering to host this 1 day workshop on Tuesday 13th March. Participants must cover their own hotel / travel costs. Please find further details here and email Hannah directly hclapham@oucru.org copying OTN2018@oucru.org before 30th November 2017 to express your interest in attending.     

OTHER ADD-ON EVENTS:

There will be a limited number of rooms available both during and immediately after the end of the conference, at the Sheraton, for those who wish to hold training sessions and other meetings. If you are interested in hosting such a meeting or workshop and wish to book a room, please contact us as soon as possible at OTN2018@oucru.org

The non-residential packages - full conference or one-day, are only available to those who normally live and work in Ho Chi Minh City. Non-residential packages include all of the above activities except hotel accommodation and breakfast.

C.        Non-residential conference package rate - Registration closed, no further bookings accepted

* If you wish to attend more than one day of the Conference, please select the Full Conference package.

* Please note these package options are limited to those who normally live and work in HCMC.

If you require additional nights' stay at either hotel before and/or after the Conference, please advise us in the registration form and also contact OTN2018@oucru.org to make sure your extra nights are arranged. Please note transfers will only be provided on the main arrival and departure days. Those staying longer, will need to pay for their own additional hotel nights and any seperate airport transfers.

During the registration process, you will be asked for your room preference and we will endeavour to allocate you a room accordingly, however we regret we are unable to guarantee this due to some limitations in available room types. Check-in is from 15.00h and check-out is by 12.00h. Luggage storage, if needed, should be arranged with the hotels directly.

TRAVEL

Delegates are requested to book their own travel and travel insurance. During the registration process, you will be asked for flight details, if these are not yet available, please advise OTN2018@oucru.org of the details as soon as you have them. Information about visas, is available in the registration process and can also be found here. Local transfers (hotels/airport) will be confirmed after registration closes and after all delegate flight details have been received.

Any costs incurred in obtaining visas (if required), any travel costs in your home country or ad hoc costs in Vietnam will not be refunded by OUCRU or the OTN. Any allowable claims should be made in the normal way through your home institution.
