Council is the University of Oxford’s principal executive and policy-making body. It is responsible for the academic policy and strategic direction of the University, for its administration, and for the management of its finances and property. Professor Ariana will serve on the Council until Michaelmas Term 2026.

Speaking about her appointment Professor Ariana said,

“I am delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to discussions and decisions that support the University’s commitments to diversity, inclusion, educational innovation and the wellbeing of our community.”

As the founding director of IHTM, Proochista will draw on her 18 years of experience in post graduate teaching at Oxford, and her commitment to supporting international diversity and opportunities for traditionally under-represented students.
