Jonathan Menary
Postdoctoral Researcher
Jonathan Menary is a postdoctoral researcher specialising in food and farm systems, with a particular interest in sustainability, biotechnology and innovation. Before joining the University of Oxford, he was a Senior Research Associate at Lancaster Environment Centre. He completed his PhD with the University of Warwick in 2018.
Jonathan’s recent work has focussed on understanding stakeholder attitudes towards novel plant breeding goals and technologies. He has been funded by the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and the European Commission Horizon 2020 programme.
His current research – as part of the Horizon 2020 project PhotoBoost – involves developing a roadmap for the improvement of crop photosynthesis in Europe that takes into account the viewpoints of diverse stakeholder groups. Interviews, focus groups and citizen juries will be used to understand these viewpoints and build a plan for the socially-acceptable deployment of PhotoBoost technologies.
