Marialena Trivella

- Senior Medical Statistician
Marialena’s main area of work is systematic reviews and meta-analysis. She focuses on methodology systematic reviews of cancer prognosis, including reviews using individual participant data. She also regularly provides training on systematic reviews in both internal and external courses.
She first worked at the National Health Service (NHS) and the University of Bristol. She joined the Centre for Statistics in Medicine (CSM) in 1999, where she worked on prognostic studies in lung cancer and developed an expertise in individual patient data meta-analysis and systematic reviews. She then joined the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and the Royal College of Surgeons as a lecturer in Medical Statistics, from where she left in 2010 to join the UK Cochrane Centre as a Lecturer in Systematic Reviews.
Marialena rejoined the CSM in 2012 as a senior medical statistician in prognostic systematic reviews.
Marialena works as a senior methodological and statistical advisor for the Systematic Review Initiative at the Joint United Kingdom (UK) Blood Transfusion and Tissue Transplantation Services Professional Advisory Committee.
She also had an advisory role on systematic reviews on infant feeding and development of atopic and autoimmune diseas, carried out Imperial College London on behalf of the UK Food Standards Agency.
