The intervention had a substantial impact on the prevalence of P. falciparum infections by month 3 after the start of the MDAs. Tamalee Roberts and colleagues found that nearly two thirds of infants in a neonatal unit in Thailand became asymptomatic carriers with carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae during  their hospital stays.
