Lucy Gilson: South Africa, learning sites & implementation

Lucy Gilson shares her experience in South Africa and Kenya while outlining the role of RESYST and its areas of focus which are: governance, policy implementation, accountability & health system change. Her presentation highlights examples of learning sites as a model to understanding implementation of health systems research. Challenges in these learning sites are discussed and possible ways to address them. Finally she discusses the need to strengthen leadership and governance within the district health system as a means to improve implementation of policy.
