Postdoctoral Scientist
Dr Mohammad Ali is a Postdoctoral Scientist working jointly with Professor Susanna Dunachie and Dr Barbara Kronsteiner- Dobramysl.
His research investigates human immune responses to infection, with a particular focus on T-cell phenotype, function, and antigen specificity. Within the COHORT study, Dr Ali contributes to the development of immunological assays for studying natural immunity to Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. His work supports discovery research, assay optimisation, and the transfer of laboratory protocols to the Oxford Vaccine Group.
Dr Ali also works on the Wellcome-funded ARTful Ageing study, investigating immune ageing and functional immune resilience in children growing up with HIV in Zimbabwe. His work includes multimodal profiling of antigen-reactive T cells, multiparameter flow cytometry, and the development of sample-processing and preservation workflows. He collaborates with the Biomedical Research and Training Institute to establish assays and strengthen laboratory capacity in Zimbabwe.
