Global efforts to fight malaria have hit a plateau and new tools are needed to achieve global goals. In this context, a consortium led by the Barcelona Institute for Global Health was awarded $25.3m from Unitaid (unitaid.org) to evaluate mass drug administration of ivermectin to humans and livestock in Tanzania and Mozambique, to kill the mosquitoes that transmit malaria.
