Students build media skills at annual media training day

IHTM students took part in Oxford’s annual media training day, where journalists from Media First helped them build confidence in handling print, radio and television interviews. Through practical exercises and feedback, they learned how to shape key messages, respond clearly under pressure and adapt their answers for different media formats. The session gave students a chance to rehearse real interview scenarios in a supportive setting and better understand how to communicate their research to wider audiences.
IHTM students return from international research placements

The 2025/26 IHTM cohort have returned to Oxford after completing eight-week research placements with leading global institutions, where they worked with host partners across a wide range of settings and health challenges. Back in Oxford, the cohort presented their findings and reflected on how their overseas placements deepened their understanding of the people, contexts and practical realities behind global health research.
IHTM students celebrate end of exams

The 2025/26 IHTM cohort marked the end of final exams with a celebratory dinner at Oxford’s Divinity School, thanked the tutors, administrators, alumni and supporters who helped them through the course, and looked ahead to their 8-week research placements around the world; the evening also recognised members of the teaching team with student awards.
IHTM students take policy briefs to UK Parliament

Students travelled to the Houses of Parliament to present policy briefs to the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases, covering five major global health issues including malaria control, funding pressures, PABS, and antimalarial resistance.
IHTM introduces new Pandemic Sciences module

IHTM has introduced a new Pandemic Sciences module to strengthen outbreak and pandemic preparedness training within the MSc Course, building on the programme’s existing outbreak-preparedness teaching and recent recognition in Oxford’s teaching awards; the module, led by Prof Alice Norton, gives students a multidisciplinary understanding of how epidemics and pandemics emerge and how evidence, policy and practice interact in public health emergencies.
IHTM students debate at Oxford Union

IHTM students took part in the annual Scholars’ Debate at the Oxford Union after months of dedicated debate training from alumni Lisha Jeena and Dennis Mazingi; the event focused on climate change, intergenerational justice and population health, and ended with lively audience engagement that showed how the programme helps students build advocacy skills and confidence in respectful public debate.
