IHTM prides itself on the quality of teaching. We are continually looking to innovate our content and delivery. We are privileged to have impressive and committed teachers contributing to the course. We are proud to have received numerous awards for our teaching, from the Oxford University Student Union as well as the Medical Sciences Division.
The MSc in International Health and Tropical Medicine (IHTM) is a full-time one-year multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary programme examining major challenges to the health of populations in resource-limited contexts. The course embraces the breadth and complexity of global health challenges facing resource-limited settings, and equips candidates with the tools and awareness to contribute to innovative solutions.
The course aims to develop students:
- knowledge and understanding of the major global health problems in resource-limited settings and their potential solutions;
- knowledge and skills in research techniques applied in the analysis of global health problems, including quantitative and qualitative research methods, health policy and systems research and public health, with opportunities for training in additional specialist fields;
- capacity to critically appraise evidence in global health;
- skills and practical experience in researching specific health problems.
Upon completion of the course, students can continue to advance their knowledge, understanding and skills further in research or professional practice in the field of global health. Our graduates have gone on to leadership and research positions within institutions in their home countries and with major international health organisations.
