SUMMARY
Chisaka is Biomedical and Translational Health scientist with competencies in laboratory diagnostics and implementation science.
Following her MSc in Biomedical science she managed the laboratory activities of 41 health facilities in Monze, under the Ministry of health during the Covid Pandemic.
Chisaka encountered many ‘complex’ social, economic, and cultural challenges when integrating Covid -19 testing into clinical care, that prompted her to pursue the MSc in Translational Health Science (THS) at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar.
Her first-class case study on the implementation of the District Health Information System-2 (DHIS-2) tracker for COVID-19 surveillance in Monze, emphasized the value of participatory methods in guiding implementation strategies. Further igniting her interest in investigating methods for translating novel technologies into practice and the implications of this on the health systems and populations of low- and middle-income countries.
More recently she has dabbled in implementation research by assisting rapid literature reviews, concept development and data extraction for global health professionals within Zambia and the University of Oxford.
Chisaka’s unique skills and experience are currently being applied to a project investigating the challenges and opportunities of introducing sustainable Point of Care Tests (POCTs) for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in Zambia.
