Kate McNeil

Researcher

Kate joined the Health Systems Collaborative (HSC), NDM Centre for Global Health Research as a researcher in September 2024. Kate’s current research explores the experiences of frontline staff during infectious disease outbreaks, and interventions to support staff wellbeing and health systems resilience during health emergencies. This work is supported by the Pandemic Sciences Institute. Her research interests include: pandemic preparedness and response, health systems resilience, the science-policy interface, the politics of disaster and crisis management, uncertainty management, and organisational learning.

Prior to joining HSC, Kate undertook doctoral research examining the Science-Policy Interface during Health Emergencies in the Department of Politics and International Studies at the University of Cambridge, where she also co-convened the Cambridge Disaster Research Network and taught undergraduate supervisions on public policy, international organisations, and the social and ethical context of health and illness. Kate also holds a MSc (Distinction) in Health and International Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a BAH in Political Studies; Minor: History from Queen’s University. She previously worked as a political staffer in Canada; and in communications and knowledge translation with the Centre for Science and Policy and UKRI’s Partnership for Conflict, Crime & Security Research.
