The current year group brings the number of students to study IHTM over the last ten years to 221, and we are very proud of the developing international network of alumni who are collaborating to advance sustainable, intersectoral solutions to public health challenges.
This year, we are joined by students from the Palestinian Territories, Lesotho and Sri Lanka, bringing the total number of countries represented over the last decade to 65. These figures demonstrate the truly global nature of the course and the diversity of its students, and with 69% from low and low-middle income countries, IHTM remains true to its mission to educate professionals committed to leading positive change in low resource contexts.
The tenth cohort arrived at Ditchley Park for their induction day and were joined by faculty and alumni. Speaking about this year’s students, Course Director, Proochista Ariana, said,
We are delighted to welcome our tenth IHTM cohort to Oxford. They are an impressive group of 19 motivated and inspiring changemakers from 17 different countries. The IHTM team feels privileged to be supporting these individuals through their journey.
The students come from wide-ranging career backgrounds including medicine, veterinary medicine, research, economics and international development. Many have already begun to make an impact in the global health space and in particular in conflict areas such as the Palestinian Territories and Sudan. Their pride in their countries and their determination to do more for the populations they serve was clear for all to see. Many had also overcome significant cultural and personal challenges to come to Oxford and we look forward to learning from them, and their experiences over the next year.
