Prof Mukti spoke about his role in the introduction of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) to Indonesia in 2014, through a social insurance scheme known as BPJS Kesehatan, and detailed his initiatives as a president director since 2021. The scheme now covers more than 250 million people across Indonesia and has resulted in winning the ISSA Good Practice Award for Asia and the Pacific in 2022 through their focus on digital innovation and organizational management. After his talk, the Indonesian Student Society Oxford (Perhimpunan Pelajar Indonesia Oxford) had an exciting discussion with Professor Mukti about how to improve the service quality of BPJS Kesehatan and our appreciation of what BPJS Kesehatan has done, for instance, when universal health coverage scheme could help cancer patients received their treatment fast without additional health cost. It was a wonderful day and one that the Indonesian students in NDM and for us working in collaboration with Indonesia will fondly remember.
