Savannah Verhage
DPhil Student in Clinical Medicine
Savannah Verhage is a medical doctor from South Africa and a Rhodes Scholar currently pursuing a DPhil in Clinical Medicine at the Centre for Global Health Research. Her research examines how climate-related disruption affects health system resilience and healthcare delivery in Kenya.
She began her career in South Africa’s public health sector, working in district hospitals and primary care clinics where resource constraints, workforce pressures and high patient volumes shaped her interest in health systems and equitable access to care. Alongside her clinical work, she has led community outreach and research initiatives and coordinated fundraising efforts to support healthcare delivery in underserved areas.
Her work bridges clinical practice, health systems research and climate-related health challenges, with a long-term focus on strengthening resilient and equitable health systems across sub-Saharan Africa.
