Physician Associates & the NHS workforce crisis
To improve health systems, workers and healthcare policy, we look at incentive motivation and human behaviour from an economist point of view. Currently, we're collaborating with the NHS to study Physician Associates, a newly regulated profession. Our research aims to address workforce challenges, emphasizing recruitment, retention, and development to improve care quality, recognizing the vital role of human connection in healthcare delivery.

Health Workforce and Service Delivery in Global Health
Attakrit joined the Health Systems Collaborative (HSC), NDM Centre for Global Health Research in November 2022. Prior to HSC, he was a Research Fellow at Health Economics Research Unit, University of Aberdeen and Institute of Labour Economics, Leibniz University of Hannover. His research interests are labour economics, applied econometrics and health economics with particular application to developing countries.
His current research plan explores different frameworks for long term strategic planning to addresses workforce scarcity and imbalance in the healthcare system through task sharing and task shifting, human resource management and integration of new technologies as well as the role of wellbeing on workforce performance and retention. Attakrit holds a Master of Science and a PhD in economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
