Elizabeth Allen

Course Director, PGDip Global Health Research

Dr Elizabeth Allen is a pharmacist with postgraduate qualifications in public health, epidemiology and clinical pharmacology. She worked in the UK and South African pharmaceutical industries, before moving to academic clinical research over 20 years ago. There she worked on many different types of malaria clinical studies and methodology research at the University of Cape Town and Infectious Diseases Data Observatory.

She has been a champion for The Global Health Network since its inception, initially leading its South African Faculty, followed by a role in Strategic Partnerships. She is now part of the network’s Training Centre leading the Post Graduate Diploma in Global Health Research, the University of Oxford’s first fully online post graduate award. She is a member of various international clinical research capacity- and methods-related committees and supervises Masters and PhD students in pharmacovigilance and trial conduct.
