Win Zaw works as a GIS & Data Specialist for the Epidemiology Department at the Mahidol Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU). Based in Yangon, Myanmar Win’s interests include GIS and spatial analysis, data analysis, risk mappings and data repository development.

Holder of an honours BSc in Computing & Information Systems from London Metropolitan University, Win’s research contributions include studying spatio-temporal analysis of Malaria and Dengue risk mappings, doing analysis on weather, population , forest cover etc. and potential effects on diseases. Apart from this Win developed a malaria data repository from fragmented retrospective data collections of GIS, disease, population data; designing a central web based repository using open source web technology.

Win is writing two academic papers “Spatiotemporal Epidemiology of Dengue in Myanmar” and “Spatiotemporal trends in Malaria in Myanmar.
