The series is called: Unpacking the Fundamentals of Global Health: Towards a New Generation of Leadership, and is hosted by IHTM Course Director, Professor Proochista Ariana. In the first two podcasts Proochista is in conversation with IHTM Ethics Lead, Professor Caesar Atuire and they discuss:

  • Decolonization in Global Health
  • Partnerships in Global Health.

The aim of the series is to enrich understanding in order to improve the ways we engage with one another in the global health space. The series draws on IHTM faculty, teachers and alumni, who are at the forefront of health.

Further podcasts will be released shortly:

  • Breaking Down Barriers
  • Beware – Understanding Evidence
  • What is the Purpose of Research?
  • EDIA/Inclusive Culture in Global Health Institutions.

The podcasts are about 20 minutes long and are available on the IHTM website and on the University of Oxford Podcast Channel.

A second IHTM podcast series will follow in the spring and explores Health Innovation and Entrepreneurship. This series of six podcasts is presented by Professor Bruno Holthof, Visiting Professor of Health Innovation, who teaches on the IHTM course.

Bruno talks to entrepreneurs about their innovations, ranging from a smart speculum device to screen and diagnose cervical cancer in Cameroon, to developing a franchise offering for primary health centres in Kenya.

The Health Innovation and Entrepreneurship podcasts provide a platform for entrepreneurs to share their vision of how innovation can help solve global health problems. It draws on the experience from health entrepreneurs around the world and will appeal to health leaders who believe that innovation can increase the number of healthy life years for the populations they serve. The series also provides an insight into the lessons these entrepreneurs have learnt during their journey.
