Education

Master of Arts (Sociology), Kenyatta University, 2020.

Bachelor of Arts – Sociology, Gender and Development Studies (First Class Honours), Kenyatta University, 2015.

Previous Experience

Nancy is a social scientist with over 6 years of experience across research areas, including nutrition, physical activity, food systems, and maternal and newborn health in resource-constrained settings in Kenya. Her research interests span ethics, patient and healthcare provider experiences, and, more recently, the experiences of frontline research staff.

In her most recent role as a Research Officer within the Health Services and Research Ethics Department at  KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme (KWTRP), Nancy applied qualitative methodologies to evaluate the effect of technology and workforce interventions in improving neonatal care in four referral public hospitals in Kenya, as part of the Harnessing Innovation in Global Health for Quality Care (HIGH Q) project.

Her firsthand experiences as a frontline research staff member in high-stress neonatal units inspired her proposed DPhil research, which explores moral distress among frontline research staff.
