In the first six episodes, we discuss what drives entrepreneurs in health and we talk about the challenges of attracting funding, the need to think about regulation early and how to drive adoption in complex health systems.
The podcasts feature health entrepreneurs from around the world with a diverse range of products from a smart speculum device to screen and diagnose cervical cancer in Cameroon, to developing a franchise offering for primary health centres in Kenya.
The HIE podcasts are the second podcast series to be launched this year by the MSc in International Health and Tropical Medicine at the University of Oxford. It follows the very successful Unpacking the Fundamentals of Global Health podcasts that explore some of the emerging and recurrent themes in global health.
The HIE podcasts are presented by Professor Bruno Holthof, Visiting Professor of Health Innovation at the Nuffield Department of Medicine at the University of Oxford. Bruno is also the lead for the HIE module on the MSc in IHTM.
The series will appeal to wide ranging audiences from health leaders who believe that innovation can increase the number of healthy life years for the populations they serve to students and faculty in global health, as well as policy makers, investors, and health entrepreneurs.
